Default Removing front plate holder.

I did a search but no answers.

I can see two bolts on the plate holder which I have removed, but it still seems to be attached onto the bumper.

Are there more bolts attached to it? I can't see any though. I don't want to rip it off and damage the bumper.

There are 4 bolts, two are small, 2 are larger. The larger ones leave noticable holes. Blanking plates can be bought.

Its easier to remove with the bumper off the car.

You can pull it off without removing bumper but you've got to be careful, from memory there are squares screw brackets behind.

Manage to remove the plate holder, but I can't see how you can remove the two square bolts without removing the bumper.

Cut them?

Some people warm the bumper and them pull them through

To do it properly you have to remove the front bumper

It's not that hard really, though I did get wet knees removing the headlight washer tubing

Squirt a drop of mastic around the bolts/nuts and leave them there , my stayed put for 12 years

The bumper comes of fairly easily but the lower bolts can be badly rusted along the bottom front edge , these are the one that fit into the funnel nuts.

I have found that you can use virtually any M6 funnel nuts but i could n't get stainless ones. Use M6 Stainless bolts and washers when refitting the bumper , they are relatively cheap form your local fastener supplier who should also be able to supply replacement funnel nuts.

Getting the bumper lined up properly when refitting is a matter of be ing careful and taking a bit of time , you do see lots that are to say the least a tad wonky , rears are the worst.
