More fun this morning. Pretty much given up on the front lower wishbones so decided to complete removal of rear wishbones. Top wishbones came off easily but bolt 24 (see diagram below) won't budge on one rear wishbone (I have dropped the exhaust, removed the nut (no.27) from 24 and I still can't knock it through ) and the ball joint on the other rear lower wishbone doesn't want to pop
So that's just four upper wishbones in my garage that I'm prepping up for a paint with POR15.
It appears to be a combination of cooling spray and penetrant. Just come back from a successful trip to Halfords.
You have to leave it for 1-2 minutes once applied for 5-10 seconds. I think the purpose is to allow the joint to return to a warmer temperature before you apply force - just like that magic dent removal video someone posted recently.
I'll give it a full two mins before applying pressure. I'm more concerned about the rear bolt than the two front ones - at least the front two can be moved to adjust alignment, whereas the rear cannot
Thanks for that, really appreciate it.
I have to speak to my dealer just to confirm exactly what parts are needed before I order, but can't do that until tomorrow as it's a bank holiday.
Well, two doses of the Loctite freezing spray and still neither the rear bolt nor the front cam collar would shift. Time to build the car back together.
