Just had a look, and they are captive nuts. Held in place by the hex cut into the plastic surround. No space around them at all.

Oh, and does the rear view mirror get in the way too much?

Hmmm! sure I can get these made for less in the UK! Must look at that!

Does the mirror & windscreen frame get in the way?

Its aluminium, I'm sure you could make it cheaper mikey, as they are selling them commercially

You can zoom so the mirror is cut out of the shot for shooting forward
