Nope.

I am going to pay it as I don't want to find out the hard way if I don't. I was just curious as to what happens if someone doesn't pay it and how they enforce it.

If they do create an open warrant for you then it's also possible that they'll circulate it across the countries in the EU that are part of the Schengen agreement (evey country apart from UK and Ireland IIRC)

This means you could, in theory, be nicked going into any contintental EU country, not just Italy.

Bloody unlikely, but possible.

The problem is that this incident happened almost a year ago, June 2005. How am I supposed to remember if I was speeding on that stretch on that day? So it isn't as simple. Secondly what proof do I have that the camera was calibrated etc. as I could demand in the UK?

Having said that, I have mentioned twice above that I am paying but wanted to know what would happen if I didn't. That latter bit is my curiousity.
