Default Remember my Europe trip?

I am told I was doing 147km/h travelling from Florence to Pisa in a 90. They want me to pay Euro 370 for the privilege. A very nice photo is also included.

The scanner's power lead is broken otherwise I would. It is only a photocopy of the photo but even so it looks very clean and shiny.

What happens if I refuse to pay it? I need definite answers not guesses please.

they can leave an open warrent for you next time you enter the country, and ban you from entering the country in theory but unlikely. If you intend to go back there you should probably pay up, if you don't intend to then you are pretty safe.

police are unlikely to catch you unless you get pulled for something else in italy and they pull your registration details up on their computer.

If you're sure you'll never drive that car again in Italy, you can probably ignore it. But if you want to go back to Italy it might be better to pay - they could end up impounding your car and walloping you with a hefty bill for non-payment. It's not clear whether they'll try to get some points put on your licence, but I would think that would be difficult without the intervention of a UK court.

And before someone pipes up that they couldn't do anythign if they pulled you next time you went over because you may not have been the owner of the car at the time....it's now certainly French law and many other EU countries (but I'm not sure about Italy) to carry the vehicle registration docs (V5 in our case) which would show you WERE the registered keeper at the time of the offence.

I just wanted to know because it is really only curiosity and the process behind these things. They have told me they will double the fine after 60 days but wanted to know what happens next. I am assuming that it would be registered as a debt but would it be against the car reg? I intend to pay it, much easier than not and wondering what happens when I go back.

I also am going to there in June this year so do not want to land up in jail with Bubba.
