Refitting the stereo fascia
OK, so I'm sat in the car typing this (thank God for wireless). There has been much swearing and generally frank discussion of the design of the stereo surround. The dashboard has utterly failed to provide me with an answer so now the question goes out to you guys - htf did you manage to refit the stereo surround once the replacement unit was in?
I have been using the guides from the Tech FAQ to get this far but now I'm having a "senior moment". I can line up the surround but each time I try to press it into place the top and sides click in to place and the three clips on the bottom edge just bend upwards
Is there a trick to getting the rather delicate clips in the bottom edge into their slots? Help! Arse! Feck! Drink! (Sadly no girls)

Strange !
I've taken the stereo front cover/facia off a number of times.
(mine is currently off at the moment pending new stereo install)
I found it more difficult to take off than to put back on.
Isn't it a simple case of just pushing it back on ?

Each time I try to fit the fascia the three clips on the bottom edge are nowhere near lining up. As a result they just bend upwards. I can't get them to line up with their respective slots in order to press them in. There doesn't seem to be enough room to line up the bottom of the fascia so that the clips can go straight in to their holes...

I remember having the same problem in my 2004 model and not in on 2001 model.
The 2004+ model is different to earlier models because of the extra trim around the gear lever is raised up so its harder to push on.
IRC you still just push it into place the clips bend and the plastic turns a bit white as they are stressed but they should not snap. Its a pain to line up and push over the trim but it does go back into place.

bend the clips the other way, ie down (theyre pretty bendy) and ease in at the bottom first then press in at the top. It was a little tough but you can get your fingers in to ease the clips in. I went through this a couple of weeks ago, so good luck!
