I think it must be to do with putting your foot down too early from cold.
I continue to be surprised by the number and frequency of crashes among S2000 owners, and yet on the TVR Pistonheads threads I look at, not seen any reported incidents yet, in cars with a lot more bhp, less weight, and no ABS.
I can only think this is related to the fact that TVR Pistonheads owners are almost religious about keeping the revs down until engine oil temp is at least 40, if not 60, and this takes quite a long time, esp in winter.
In the S, you get the necessary bars on the temp gauge pretty quickly, so I guess many people then think it is ok to go for it!

Most TVR owners leave their cars in the garage don't they? except when they are taking them to the dealers to be fixed on the back of a flatbed...
(I've decided I can't afford a Tamora right now - could buy one, but the increase running costs would screw me I reckon - so I'm able to make rash / jealous comments like these )

Is it not also a question of buyer profile?
TVRs are costly, therefore owners tend to have come up through the ranks of genuine performance cars and are therefore circumspect.
S2Ks are cheap as chips, one can now acquire a massive level of performance for the price of an ordinary car. Many people are missing out the learning curve.
PS - Heel n' toe quote is true!
