Rear Window Cleaning
Hi Chaps,
Ive had an S2000 a few weeks now and although the car is in great condition unfortunately the previous owner appears not to have bothered to clean the rear window at all in its 5 years of existence. Reversing is a lottery when the tops up...
So I have had a go at cleaning it, most of the scum is actually on the inside and it's really hard work cleaning it off with the various solutions Ive tried, scrubbing while sitting backwards and leaning over the roll bars etc.
Therefore Id appreciate some advice - whats the best type of detergent to use - the technical quide recommends a BMW product - does everyone use this or are there good alternatives (Google suggests this is the only relevant cleaner on the market) Also what type of cloth is abrasive enough to remove the dirt but not scratch? Is it worth removing the softop entirely to do this?

BMW soft top screen cleaner is great also is meguairs plastic glass cleaner.
take your time and stay with it.
best to do it when the top is up and tight, and a soft coth is ideal.

Is the screen milky, cloudy and scratched, possibly with a bar in it where its folded ?
This is a common problem with all plastic rear screens, so please don't use anything abrasive on it ( I've heard of Mr Muscle being recommended but its caustic and will permanently mark the screen, as will all domestic products). You may find a number of products out there which will treat the surface, but none bar Hindsight will actually put oils back into the screen to stop it cracking and splitting in the future.

Yep its been asked 100 times before and everyone says the BMW one is best 
Once you do get it cleaned, you should consider maybe investing in one of the muz window mats apparently they help protect it alot better on the inside, not 100% as mines glass 
, but I have heard people with the same problem recommend them

Here's what Total BMW said...

If you have an aversion to all things BMW (like me 
) you should definitely use Hindsight - I wouldn't have thought it was possible to do what it does. My screen is 6+ years old and when washed is as clear as it was new. I also use Plexus after washing the car as it's good for lighter grime, lasts ages and is quite cheap.
