Rear Tyre Wear
Has anyone got any theories as to why my nearside rear tyre has worn faster than the offside one. They are due for changing now but the nearside one is right on the wear markers, whilst the offside still has about 1mm to go to the markers. Pressures are checked regularly and tyre wear is even across the tread.

The alignment being out would cause uneven tyre wear. My nearside rear was out by 3 degrees and the inner 2 inches was down to the carcass.
The guys in the US have been talking about this recently, except they find that their nearside (ie: right) rear wears faster. Thers's a suggestion that it may be down to cornering forces.
Not much help, but it appears to be fairly common.

Mine were the same, but I have been out on track a few times, all of which have been clockwise so I would expect the outer tyres to wear faster - I take it you haven't tracked your car?

Never used the car on a track, I didn't think it was an alignment problem as the tyre has just worn faster than the other one, it's not scrubbed down or anything like that. I was wondering if it was just cornering force as i do an 80 mile round trip to work and a lot of that is round twisty country roads. I'm having new rears on Saturday so I'll ask them at the tyre place what they think.
