Default Really Bad Rattle

A rattle has developed over the last couple of weeks, it is now constant.

It sounds like it is coming from the passanger seat / seatbelt guide / b pillar area. It actually sounds like the seat is loose.

When Iam driving and look at the passanger seat, i can see that there is alot of vibration (this is probably normal) but the rattle sounds consistent with the vibration Iam seeing.

It rattle with the top dwon or up so it is not the roof/mechanism.

Is there a recognised rattle in this area with a fix?

It is driving me nuts and I will not have time to get it to a dealers before my long drive the Gaydon on Sunday.

Thanks

f

Sounds like a problem someone has mentioned previously. In their case, I think it was diagnosed as being the passenger seat belt buckle knocking against something. That would seem consistent with the area you're reporting the sound coming from.......?

It is probably either

1) the seatbelt buckle sitting down on the stop half way down the belt and knocking against the plastic trim (happens a lot!)

2) the back of the seat knocking against the trim behind the seat.

For 1 slide the buckle up and wedge it in the guide on top of the seat shoulder, for 2 try moving the seat forward one notch.

thanks guys,

I have moved the seat forward and will see what it's like on the drive home tonight. I don't think it is the buckle as I have heard this rattle whils holding the buckle, but will wedge it in like you suggest.

The passanger seat was as far back as it would go so lets hope this is the problem.

It's not the seat hitting the trim behind. But I think it might be the whole seat rattling or something in the passanger door has come loose. It's bloody anoying though whatever it is !

Check the bolt holding the space saver wheel in hasn't worked loose. Mine was loose after my alarm was installed and the rattle sounded like it was coming from the passenger side of the car

cheers mate, I'll have a look at that tonight.

I've got it booked in tomorrow at the dealers, so hopefully thay can sort it.

Is it me, or do the dealers treat you a little better when you say "I have an S2000......."

Franky, also check that the metal seat belt buckle is not resting against the metal hood frame next to the top of the seat

silver - the seat belt buckle is securely wedged in the seat belt guide so it can't be hitting anything.

Every performance car I have had has always had a rattle associated with the passanger seat. I find nothing more infuriating than having the pleasure of driving taken away by an annoying rattle.

I too hate rattles!

In my Italian car days, I used to spend half the drive slapping various parts of the dashboard until they went away!
