Default RE050A = Is the fitter correct ?

Hi Guys ,I need two new rear RE050A's for my 16's .
the tyre guys are telling me that Bridgestone no longer do specific versions for Honda/Mercedes etc .
Is this true ?
Apparently they have a "generic" RE050A which they can order in.

Thanks
Steve

There was never a specific S2000 version of the RE050A.

"Tyre Guys" are correct. for 16" wheels there is no Honda specific tyre.

The answer is in the FAQ

MY99 - MY03

Standard fit tyres on the S2000 were Bridgestone ES02JZ. Bridgestone developed these tyres specifically for the S2000 and Honda recommended that only these tyres be used on the car.

However, Bridgestone have discountinued the ES02JZ and have replaced them as follows

QUOTE
Hello Neil,

The S02 was the original equipment specification that has now been phased out. The replacement tyre for this vehicle is as follows:

Front: 205/55 R16 Bridgestone RE050A 91W

Rear: 225/50 R16 Bridgestone RE050A 92W

I ordered mine from Event tyres and on selecting the Brand and size it shows S2000 next to it.

Superb service from Event by the way, was a pleasure start to finish.

Michelin Pilot Sports work well if they are available in the right size?

I currently have S02's - Porsche fittment.

After a shakey start, I LOVE the fronts.

The rears, however - someone appears to have been coming during the night to steal my tread...

I think when the S2000 specific S02s were discontinued, Event got fed up with all the people phoning them up asking if the RE050 was suitable instead. So they've stuck S2000 next to that size.
