Rattling noise in roof?

Rattling noise in roof?
Hi all, got a bit of an irritating problem and am in need of some brains to pick. I seem to have a rattling noise coming from the roof. It seems to be somewhere in the lining almost right above my head. There doesn't appear to be anything loose & I cannot 'replicate' the noise by shaking the car, its only when I'm driving that I hear it. I've looked at the spare wheel compartment just in case, and all appears tight as can be, and its def not something loose in either storage areas. I've tried pushing/prodding while driving to try and find the source, but so far with no luck. I've had the car from new, but the rattling only started about a month ago. I haven't really got time to take it back to the dealers, and as its rapidly becoming roof-up season, I could do with a few ideas
I've tried doing a search but found nothing much of any use.
Any suggestions, as always, very gratefully received.

Hi,
I had a few rattles in my roof on my MY02 when I got it, complained to the dealer and they adjusted the roof and all fine now, although it is much harder to do the catches up now...
It's true the catches rattle on older cars, my MY00 had this but I think in later cars the striker plates are tougher and certainly shouldn't be an issue on an MY05.

i had a rattle in exactly the same position. must me a problem on 05 moonorocks!
i could replicate the clicking noise by pushing the roof up slightly to the right side of my head. looking at the outside this would be on the strip that runs the length of the door. by pushing it up and down it clicked. the noise was coming from the underside of the roof lip catching on the rubber seal on the top edge of the window.
took it to honda and their so called roof expert hadnt seen it before. he said the roof was pretty tight and the only thing he could do was remove it and refit it. as a last resort he said to try some silicon grease. i soaked the edge of the roof in the stuff and it worked. hasnt been rattling for 2 weeks now.

i used the 3 in 1 silicon grease from halfords. i sprayed the underside edge of the roof where it comes into contact with the seal. you will feel the lip of the fabric there. this was the bit that caused the problem on my car. i also sprayed round all the moving bits. it will be much easier to do with the roof half open.
dont forget to cover the seats in case the grease drips on them.
