Ahh...you didn't tell us that Rob! Get some new striker plates...the GT ones...that should sort you out. Available from a dealer for around £60 IIRC.

Roger...I'd go for my first method of attack then. If that doesn't work, you may have a bent soft top frame, with the edges being pulled closer due to the piping on the hooks...uniform contact along the A pillar is needed to get a good seal against the wind.

or plan c... smack the inside of the frame with a lump hammer and bend it into a more pleasing shape.

Hmmm...I like your thinking there Rob...

Just make sure your hands are completely dry before picking up the hammer, otherwise serious damage could occur (I've had a lump hammer thrown at my groin by accident due to WD40...it hurts like you wouldn't believe!)
