On the GD cooling plate the "snorkel" part does not extend below the plate itself - its not going to have the same "ram effect" as a Muz style snorkel (which I had myself until recently) but the air can only be forced against the radiator or escape up through the cooling plate "snorkel" so it does the desired job and it isn't so likely to get hydrolock if you have to drive through deepish water (I have come across a few fords near me so it's a real consideration for me)

I have a Mugen CAI plus cooling mods, this reduced the kangeroo impersonations considerably in traffic. I later installed a rad plate and the impersonation have all but gone.

They are a worthwhile mod and are certainly better than having no air guide at all. Either hack your airguide or stick in a plate.

Muz snorkel on an 04 intake is to the left hand side of the grill.

Oh there's airflow, its just flows under the car as the car was designed for it to flow. Sorry Steve but I'm not convinced that a few veins would make any decernable difference in the airguide to the ambient temperature. If I did want to make any difference then I would vent the bonnet.

Have a look under your car .... notice the plastic that covers a large part of the bottom of the engine bay.

If rad plates are a good idea then why do the performance companies like Mugen, J's, Spoon etc not sell rad plates to match their intakes?

It is the bling companies that sell the rad plates .....
You're wrong Steven - J's Racing also do a rad plate...

ASM do a rad plate too with the Mugen cut out and they have just set the fastest lap at Tsukuba with their S2000 beating the Amuse and the J's Racing cars.
