It is when a bike gets above ~20mph they have the biggest advantage i.e. coming off of roudabouts or out of slow bends....
I once raced a Fireblade off of the line when I was in my S. I got up to 70 before he passed me but when he did pass he was doing well over 100.
You also have to remember that there are lots of different bikes out there... an S should be quicker than a lot of customs but any sports bike above 600cc should cream an S (and any other car on the road ) .

I am going to Bedford Autodrome with some of the Boxa.net boys one of whom will have a 111's...looking forward to seeing how difficult it will be to keep up with an Elise on a track

I used to have a regular dual with an M3 (Evo old shape) on my way to work, at first I also thought hey I can keep up with this, that was when I was following him, he couldnt pull away and I couldnt gain, however one day when he got behind me there was a noticable difference, I couldnt pull away and he could definately pull on me, probably the slip stream affect.

I had the E36 M3..much faster than an S2000 in a straightline...not in the same league as the S2000 under braking or agility
The steering is too slow to inspire confidence to chuck it around and you need more road to gather it up
The E36 M3 is best left for 'sorting' out Scoobs on dual carriageways....which it's very good at believe me
