I suffered from some interesting tyre pressure values from there as well but the Halfords digital tyre pressure gauges.

Euan - do you always ask for genital mutilation when you get your tyres changed?

Whilst it doesn't explain the differing pressures and the fact that your front tyres were definitely too low, perhaps your tyre gauge reads slightly differently to the tyre fitters? I know that my digital gauge and my halfords compressor guage have a 2psi disparity.
Maybe. I think its about time that I bought my own tyre pressure guage and pump. I use the digital one at the Shell garage as its automatic and so easy to use, but I have never questioned its accuracy!

I do agree with this but surely even if it were out should they not all be the same pressure even though it was reading differently? i.e. tyres were reading 30psi because there was a 2 psi difference, but not a fluctuation between indvidual tyres! or is it me being dumb

if they were all at the same "gauge" pressure it would'nt be so bad!
Rahula - reckon your tyre pressure problem might be down to all those spins on the 1st Lotus day!

Garage guages are notoriously unreliable - all you need is your own guage though. I often use the garage air, but always check the reading with my own guage.

Best to overpressurise, drive home, wait until they cool, then bleed to correct pressure per your own guage.

Got to the petrol station and filled up and everything was fine again.
Pressures should be checked when the tyres are cold IIRC. Trip to a garage is usually enough to heat them up sufficiently to give an 'incorrect' reading

, however I was out driving the car for at least 40mins before I knew there was something wrong. I have a digital thingimajick from hellfords and all the hot tyres measured 37.5 psi except the right rear which was 31psi. I inflated this to 37.5 psi and checked it again the next day to bring the pressures into line but there was no difference.

a while back, Ride magazine did a review of different pressure gauges and the most accurate one they found was an analogue one from Halfords or similar for about
