A question for your ICE Stereo gurus
Hi All,
I looking to replace my OEM Headunit and now want to get a mini-disc player. There seem to be a few good options out there, but I'm looking for something that has more power than the OEM unit and will still allow me to use the remote controls.
I have found the Alpine MDM-7741R Mini-disc player from Hendon Car Stereo and it appears to be a good price. Has anyone used one, heard the quality etc - Are they any good? Recommendations?
Thanks

I'm a big fan of Alpine but they have really run down their Mini-Disc range in recent years Don't discount Pioneer James, their last couple of ranges have been very nice and sounded great. They too offer a remote control interface for the S2000's dash controls but it is a little harder to install.
Dog Biscuit looked at the Alpine MD players so he should be able to chime in, I am not sure if the MDM-7741 has the 'Steering Wheel Remote' socket you need to use with the S2000 dash control adaptor (KCE-865B) and I aslo think it is an old M-Bus model so adding a decent CD or MP3 changer would be hard too.
Check out Pioneer....

If you look at Sony units make sure they include Infra-Red remote control compatabity as without it you won't be able to retain the dash controls. Even then you need a programable PAC SXI-X interface from Lucid to tie everything together..... aside from that I think Sony units tend to sound too bright but that is just my taste
Have you got a model number for the Pioneer, I can try and get you a price on it.

Tasty!
I'm waiting for the price to come through and will PM you when it arrives. You need to add the offboard DAB tuner box and antenna to it to get all the DAB channels though, it is not integral to the unit. Something to think of further down the line maybe?

Tried to find a MD head unit from Hendon and I was told they didn't have any and wouldn't get any either as they stopped making them for 2002!
(I shall start a new thread instead of hi-jacking yours for the next bit)

I can't get a price as I'm being told Pioneer have dropped it from the range.... Hendon are normally unbelievably cheap (like trade + a few quid!) so if you fancy it you'd better get in there quick!
