Punctured repaired tyres
Hi all been a long time since I posted but wondering on peoples opinion on punctured repaired tyres.
I've always been firm believer in you get what you pay for with car parts n spares. I've always paid top whack for car tyres and bought top brand when possible, I've avoided budgets most of my driving life apart from on the odd banger. I had a dunlop tyre punctured repaired on my S2000 which never had any problems but was always in my mind. I've been offered a bridgestone with 7mm from a friend for my car. It had a nail in it but its been repaired. Tempted to buy it.......

puncture repaired tyres are ok for everyday cars but i would put one on a sports car that is driven hard or do track days as there not designe to take high g-forces and arent made of the same compound rubber so on track they dont react the same for temperature changes as the tyre heats up.
i wouldnt let a repaired tyre get anywhere near my car.

I've had punctures repaired on a couple of occasions.
Those tyres have then been used enthusiastically and tracked quite happily with no loss of pressure.
A puncture repair isn't rocket science and the repair patch itself never comes into contact with the road surface. All it does is seal the hole and the air pressure in the tyre holds it in place and maintains the seal.
