Thumbs up Project S2000 - what are the options?

Hi Guys,

Had my S about 2-3 months now and have been using it as my daily driver. It's a fantastic car and makes me smile almost everyday however can get a little tiresome on long drives / in the rain / when you need space etc etc - which of course I knew when I bought it.

I've also been considering getting a project car something from salvage or similar and slowly doing it up to a fantastically fast car of some kind.

Today been thinking that's a stupid way round and that I could get a beater and use the S for a project car and occasional use. Thinking a Lexus IS200 as a beater as I need a decent looking car that's well represented for work and they seem reliable and well equipped too - perfect run around?

So that leads me to my question:

Is it a good idea to use the S for a project car and if so what possible setups could I go for? I have read around the forums and was wondering what people have / what their opinions are?

Thanks guys.

Like any project, you need to have a target.

What is your target?

I'm not sure what is realistic from an S - I was assuming I'd go now the forced induction route and it seems that 500bhp is pretty achievable? Would probably also be looking at subtle outside / exterior mods, some nice wheels and a slight drop then finally a respray?

Have always wanted to mod a car nicely but never had the opportunity as I've only ever had daily drivers before - also don't know loads mechanic wise - only the basics

Look at Mikey K's thread as how to do it properly.

Otherwise, don't do it at all.

Buy Phils car in the For Sale forum.

Job done (if you want something that extreme)

Doing it yourself is a total money pit on the S. Hence I bought an Exige. I do love the S but concluded that you either like it as it is with a few nice tweaks, or go for soemthing else.

Even if you buy a 5-6k S2000 you will spend at least 2x on top of that, on getting a useable 500bhp IMO.

Hmmm, I see. Having looked through a few threads and in particular Mikey's thread it seems I'll need to revise the target As I'm not a mechanic guy myself I think I'll need to get someone to put on any serious mods such as Superchargers etc.

It seems that a standard Supercharger install will give around 300bhp and be around

Phil's car

End of story. Don't bother or waste your time on anything else.
It will just be a pale pastiche.

I'm pretty sure Lloyd aka Kawasakivtec still has 16" wheels on his car, along with a supercharger. He's worth asking about power upgrades.

I'm no mechanic
Just got deep pockets, time and a garage to work in.
I love mine and I'm happy with the 419 BHP I have.
Not found a viable replacement yet
