Problem unsetting alarm
Hi,
question regarding the alarm.
on saturday went to visit a friend at hospital and when i came to unlock the car -zip, nothing happened. The red led on the fob lit up so that was working.
After a few minutes of trying the car unlocked and i drove off no problems. during the rest of the day I locked and unlocked the car several times, no problems
On sunday also had no problems, went back to the hospital, parked in exactly the same place and when i came to leave same problem. car wouldnt unlock.
took maybe 20 presses before the alarm de-activated.
Any ideas - was thinking perhaps some strong radio signals interferring with the radio signal from the fob?
Alarm on its way out?
I assume in worst cash scenario whereby alarm wont deactivate its a low loader to the nearest dealer??
thanks

This is not unheard of and is usually caused by the presence of a mobile phone mast or some other source of EM radiation in the area. Could even be a CAT Scanner if the Hospital has one.
Range Rovers do this for a hobby.
Thre is no cure except.
1) Park further away
2) Get closer with the blipper before using it.
Depending on the age of the car will depend on how immobilised it remains once you put the key in the ignition.

I've seen it before - park in a 'dead zone', the alarm doesn't work. Park anywhere else, & it's fine.
Problem was a mobile phone transmitter next door to the car park.
