I've never had a beeper like that, but then I've never had a "you've left your lights on" beeper either.
Always presumed it was a JDM thing,

I wonder if the alarm fitter just hacked through the cables and wired the door switches to only operate the alarm.

Got back in the S last week, i cant really say if its happened during the cold spell i.e when the S has been sat on the drive, but I'm having a problem with the interior lights.
When i switch the lights into the 'middle position' the lights wont come one when i open the doors.
When i switch the lights to the 'far right' (ON) they wont come on.
Press the individual buttons manually and the lights come on
I have pressed the pushrods at the side of the doors, i opened them open a year or so back to lube them - not point really.
But I'm stumped must be something to do with the interior switch?, I'm thinking its more likely the push rods?
IIRC the lights should come when the light switch is set to the middle position and i open the doors.
Thanks

The maps also have their own simple earth.
There is a second door-controlled earth, which disappears into the 'Lude's multiplex controller, to do the fancy dimming/switching on when you remove the key & the other trick stuff.
I'd eliminate the lives, before looking for a dodgy earth. It's usually easier.

I think there is only one live, so if when using the map swicthes you get light, the problem is probably with the switch itself. The always on and the middle position have seperate earths - the always on and the map light share the same earth. Again seems like the switch is at fault - corroded contacts?

Does your "key in ignition" bleeper still work?
I think this works off the door switch.
Drives me batty - top of my (short) list of things I'd change about the car.

The key beeper and lights on beeper are different, so you can disconnect one and still have the other.
Just take off the underside of the steering column trim and disconnect. Takes a minute.
