I love the PRM, but as DBM said, it is all mouth and no trousers. They sound cracking going into VTEC.

Having said all that, it did add about 100 quid a year to my insurance, which is a large whack to pay for sound.

You were robbed.

Mine made no difference to my insurance - they classed it as an aftermarket air filter.

It only adds 2BHP at the wheels according to the PDF they sent me, which I sent the insurer.

Don't see how the umbrella would rob any power Mark, it sits a couple of inches above the filter so air can pass freely. Imagine a plastic plant pot, cut in half and with the base cut out. You can mount it above the filter and any water falling from above simply bounces off or is guided away. The main cause of hydrolock on the AEM is when the car is parked overnight and it rains really heavily. When started the high engine idle causes any water that is caught in the swan neck to get sucked up. Protect the filter from above and the problem goes away.

There are some pics on here somewhere, but I can't find them at the minute.

I seem to remember seeing some pics briefly that made me think it wasn't the best idea... a distand memory though!

Pics would be good.

Ah, that would be fine and wouldn't hurt at all. The one I saw was almost touching the top of the filter, thus reducing surface area by a big degree.

I thought the issue was more driving through a large puddle and saturating the filter - that would be far more dangerous.

It getting wet overnight woudn't be great, but it would mostly just drain off rather than taking a gulp.

So, the AEM needs the front bumper to be removed? Mmmm, not too sure on that one anymore then!

Does the K&N need the bumper taken off?

DBM - how could you have got one fitted for free? My Fiance comes from a little village called Childerthornton, it's on the Welsh Road, near Little Sutton???
