Default Primary car or toy ?

I am relatively new to the board having owned a silver S2000 since March 2001 imported from Belgium.

I am curious what the split of owners is between the S2000 being a primary car used every day for commuting / weekend pleasure or (like me) a second car that sits garaged until either the sun shines or my juices flow and I just have to take it for a spin.

Living in the Midlands and working in London near Heathrow gives me a great opportunity some days to stretch its legs up and down the M40, top down if the weather is OK

BTW - my other car is a 3.0 X-type Jag which I am pretty impressed with, apart from a few early niggles.

The CEO (aka wife) drives a RAV 4 which keeps her happy.

How true is that !
I'm lucky in that mine's my second car (albeit one in which I've managed to do 12000 miles in 18 months). When I bought it, I said to myself - "I'll only take it out in fair weather" - but sometimes I just can't wait that long, so my baby gets covered in salt, mud, and all sorts of other foul weather road grime.

This is by far and away the best car I've ever owned. It isn't a mode of transport to me, it's thrilling entertainment every time I ride in it. Sheer adrenalin rush. That's why it isn't just my primary car, it's my only car! Why would I want to drive anything else?

My 'toy'.
I usually take her out in poor weather also because I just can't wait for the weekends sometimes.

TOY TOY TOY (but since I got rid of my daily drive, I sometimes have to drive it to work. Ahh what a hardship.)
I just don't like getting it caked in salt etc. Luckily I share a lift and drive on the nicer days (when we can have the top down).
The car is 28 months old and still under 6000 miles.

Hi,

Mine is a second car only driven in the summer time, so I guess that makes it a toy car :-)
