Either read the handbook, or lose the battery +ve terminal, which is what I do.

I've had a few MAP problems. I use the disconnection/bash it techniques.

I suppose I could always splash out on a new one, one day.

thanks guys - did the Map sensor tap - no difference

so - to be safe its going to the dealers tomorrow morning for a check up

No you wouldn't AB, you'd unplug the map sensor and give it a few sharp taps with the end of a screwdriver, apply several coats of Zaino, then some P21S, make sure you could see your face in it and then put it back in the car.

Just wanted to make sure your description was accurate

DON'T thump the MAP sensor - this might termporarily solve an 'issue' but is only likely to do more damage than it fixes in the long term...it's a very sensitive sensor that is not designed to withstand shock impacts.

If the MAP sensor is faulty it should be replaced - not thumped every now and again to try and 'encourage' it to work. Get a dealer to diagnose the problem and take it from there is my advice.

GoFast Lab has the ECU with US Standards I believe, which is different than European.

tell you what - whacking a small electrical component on my car scares the *&%! out of me

I know where it is - and I know what to do

its just how hard do I whack it?
