Potenza S-02 wear rate
I'm about to splash out on some new Bridgestone Potenza S-02's for my S.... just want to know how long I can expect it to be before I am splashing out again! I know it's all down to how you drive but just wanted to know what you guys thought about them??

I got double figure thousands out of the first set, but only singles from the rest. Fronts seemed to last 1.5 to 2 times the rears (if you swap them side to side early enough).
Make sure you get a decent tyre fitter - the rims are easily ed up by clumsy grease monkeys (and Honda dealers can be the worst).

I think most people manage at least 8K from the rears, and 10K+ for the fronts.
The reason for my board name was that when I got my fist S (a '00MY) I was having to replace the rears every 3.5 - 4K miles
I didn't think this was particulary clever, but as it was my fist experience with a high power rear wheel drive sports car, I had nothing for comparison.
A quick search on Google led me to s2ki.com where with the advice of others it became clear that my wear rate was not normal!!
I ended up having a full geometry check with four wheel laser alignment, and sure enough the alignment was out. Once reset to Honda spec the car felt far less skittish over uneven surfaces, and cornered with more confidence.
My next set of rears then lasted 9.5K miles and still had a bit of life in them when I traded the car for a '03MY !!

Fronts - half worn at 13.5 K, rears only just legal at 13.5K That was from new with the first 1,000 or so miles driving gently.
Changed them all at 13.5K (fronts went to a second set of rims).
Now at 18K, so 4.5K from new, fronts 7mm tread remaining, rears 5mm remaining according to my service report of a week ago.
