Thumbs up Potential New Owner Queries

toing with the idea of at purchasing a 99 s2k, but have seen a few imports at the local car place, just wondered how they were differently specced, what are the official performance figures, how many different s2k models are there and do HID's come as standard?

thanx in advance.

Welcome!

Have a read through the FAQ stuck at the top of the board. It will answer the vast majority of the questions you will have.

GT means it comes with the hard top as standard (this includes an expensive fitting kit - you can't pop a hard top on a non- GT car) - no other changes from the normal model.

I bl@@dy well hope so

Can't say really - they all have their pros and cons. Generally they get more comfortable, safer handling, and "softer" from 99 to 02 to 04. 04 still a terrific car though - 99 more likely to end up in a hedge (broadly speaking).

GT is a normal S with the optional hardtop. Available from 02 onwards but can be retro fitted.

You will get many opinions from different owners as to the "best" overall model. The later models are "easier" to drive though.

Just remember 02+ Comes with the glass rear window and a few other differences over earlier models i.e.Clear side repeaters, CD player, upgraded suspension, newer alloys and a different staged VTEC, first stage coming in slightly earlier than 6 and then the main VTEC at 6

glass rear screen is important as im guessing the plastic wont have a defroster element.

So if its not a GT a hard top cant be put on it then.

So really im looking at an 02 for a good compromise, what sort of price am i looking at as ive seen 99 models go for as low as 9k with 65k on the clock

Plastic screen has a tendency to "frost up" and requires maintenance

The hardtop fitting kit can be bought and bolted on to non-GT models. Mucho Dinero however

The valuation police will be along to give you an idea.

Some advice/moaning/your Dad telling you what to do.
It may sound pedantic, but we appreciate folks putting some effort into their posting on the UK board. (Take a look at the replies you've recieved)
This means, attempting correct spelling, using capitals where required and inserting correct punctuation.
Typos are tolerated, teenage text speak isn't.

Good luck in your search Nathan.
