I think the best car for you is an MX5 - will give you the top down fun that you're looking for but as a student i.e. not earning much, spending unnecessarily on a car should be the last thing on your list of priorities. Get yourself a decent job, establish yourself first before stretching your finances. Is it really worth for the bit of pleasure you'll get, all the stress of having to pay the HP (presumably you don't have

Just to add to Richards comment, not much goes wrong with them but if you need a new clutch or adjust the geo and the bushes are knackered - it will cost a few dollars!

[QUOTE=Bassoctopus,Mar 7 2007, 09:20 AM] I did my research and bought mine with a 100% (no deposit) loan, 3 and a half years ago. Guess what? I now owe nothing on it and have a car in my garage worth

The buying of the car does not really worry me as i have more than enough cash. However as said i dont want to spend a load in running cost or lose money as soon i get a job i might need to sell to relocate or even in a years time if im close to home get a house etc.
I got the cash to buy easily enough, but my reason for worry is to be sensible (i wouldnt get MX5 would be A4 TDI) or get S2000. As said i got the cash in the bank and a fair bit more... However do i keep it safe for a nice chunk on a deposit for a property or do i dip in and get S2000 lol.
Watched the Auto Trader show last night and had S2000 on there! lol Love the car and only reason i would get it is proper drivers car, Hence going from 400bhp Cosworth to mx5 is big no no. However scared me with the price of clutch etc etc.
Well im going to look at a good spec A4 TDI on Friday on 52 plate if that doesnt come good will be going to look at this S2000 on Saturday.
In a way i should have kept my 330d Sport and wouldnt have this dilema lol

I'd guess you weren't a student at the time though, Neil!
Richards did perhaps make some assumptions about the OP's means - but on the information available I don't think they were unreasonable assumptions.

I for instance couldn't afford any car but that was probably a good thing, as I was p1ssed 70% of the time
