Interesting that I have had a similar problem to sammyc and I am also UK resident. I have had this for about 9 months - but it is very intermittent. Probably 19 times out of 20 everything is fine - but then on the 20th, on starting the engine the alarm goes off. I am out of warranty as the car is coming up to 5 years old now. I would be interested to know how much alarm repairs typically are if anyone has had to have theirs fixed.

I have never changed my batteries in 5 years - although I have worked abroad for quite some time so the car isn't driven every day (or week).

How close do people have to be generally to the car when un-locking / locking. I have to be within about 2 metres. Was wondering if my batteries were getting low.
