Matt
I'm always up for feedback on dealerships and am also willing to try new ones. So if your place is any good I'll see about coming down for some work

Sorry BR - i didnt read the quote!!
Matt - I'll ask b4 someone else does. Would you provide a new S2000 customer with your own personal advice at the dealership?
and what would happen if they came back with problems that were diagnosed as a result of not running in as per the Honda Manual?
Could you define sensible in this context? Is it revving to 9k, 5.5k, etc?
Thanks

Melmouth...well I am a biker as well so maybe that's where I get my views from.
Sensible is letting the oil and engine warm....as in my previous post, no long high speed runs.... I also let the car sit at idle for a while before switching off, not just on new cars but on all cars....and yes I would give a customer my personal advice, I hope that would be what marks me out from others...personal real world advice..that is not to say the handbook shouldn't be read...it should but sometimes things err on the side of caution..I would also recommend an oil change at somepoint halfway between new and the first service...like i said just a personal view.

can I ask why you would go against the advice from Honda, the maker of the engines both in relation to running in and the first service to be carried out earlier than 9k which they suggest? I know they might err on the side of caution but there is a reason why they do this.
I too have read many informational books and sites and some say you should hard rev the engine once in a while during run-in and take things slow. Many reasons were given including seating the piston rings properly etc.
