Place Your Bets On A Possible Speeding Ticket
Place your bets,
Was on the M53 coming back from the cheshire oaks which is normally a 70mph but because of roadworks in the central lane a temporary 50mph limit is in effect and it goes on for about 3 miles. I was doing 59 mph (speedo reading).
A girl in a fiant punto was going roughly 5mph more than me and she was about 3 seconds ahead.
Copper in the van was above the motorway and on a bridge.
What do you reckon?
TBH I think im gonna get done but would be nice to hear your opinions. Already have 6 points
I understand you get 10%+2mph + speedo error of about 2 mph at this speed.

you'll be fine with that. 59 on speedo prob translates to 56-57, bet they are set to nab you over 60.
i found last weekend that 85 translates to 82 (on sat nav) on my private driveway.
don't sweat you'll be fine.

Should be OK...
They will set the cameras, typically, for a minimum of speed limit + 10% +2mph = 57mph... I dount that a speedo reading of 59mph will be a real speed in excess of that... So you'll probably be OK... unless you were going faster immediately before...
But Mikey_K is right, they don't like speeding in roadworks...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I deal with speeding tickets at work and I have had them for roadworks when it was a 50 zone - the lowest one was 55mph
Fingers crossed.

It's a close call. Seen a few forums recently where the OPs have had NIPs for 32 in a 30. That supposedly translates to 35mph on a speedo if the other posters on the forum are to be believed. I think cameras are considered lower threshold than coppers tho.
I drive my wife mad as I am really anal at doing 50 in those roadworks as too many have those average speed scameras and I refuse to pay more tax. Doesn't mean they won't get me elsewhere tho!
Was is a revenue (sorry safety) partnership van or a copper in a traffic car? Traffic cars usually (but admittedly not always) stop you and issue you a roadside ticket.
