Pioneer DEH-X8500DAB Head Unit

I thought about the censored versions but, even if there was a tame version of every explicit album, it will be costly to replace all my GD albums. They all get listened to!
They were even asking the DJ, at the end of school term disco, for Green Day or AC/DC. The DJ said he couldn't play it because they had bad language in them, so my 8 yr old told him which tracks would be ok because they don't contain any swearing!
5 [nearly 6] ...and 8 [nearly 9] so don't do 'kiddie' music ...and I'm not loading One Direction onto my phone. lol

Anyway, finished installing the new head unit last night (on the drive, in the dark with headtorch on, looking like a nutter!).
Decided to stick with the autoleads connector now that I can mute/ATT the volume.
Installed the antenna up behind the rear view mirror on the windscreen and placed the mic on the driver's sun visor. All looking very neat now.
The main control button gets pressed by the stereo cover door on that final little push to lock the door, but my cover stays down most of the time anyway (or I can remove the head unit front panel).
DAB radio works well with the internal antenna, however. while driving [in Devon] loses signal occasionally. Is this normal?
With the internal DAB antenna; what's the black lead that has no end on it (with just a nick taken out of the insulation near the end, to reveal the copper core)?
