Photo on engine bay with CAI installed required
OK, I'll get this out of the way up front - I have NO technical ability whatsoever. Lift up the bonnet and my eyes will be filled with terror. I have just about located the dipstick and where the oil goes. With me so far?
I've got an Aus CAI that I've done the necessary cutting (all ten fingers remain attached, somehow) and its fits in the right place jsut fine.
Trouble is, the bonnet won't shut properly and I have been told (cheers, MT) that you need to turn a screw to release the tension in the bonnet catch - I'm only repeating his words - me, I have no idea.
Right, to cut to the chase, does anyone have a photo handy of their engine bay, complete with CAI and a nice little arrow pointing me to the correct screw, less I find the little known one that drops the entire engine onto the garage floor.
All help extremely gratefully received.
Ben

Perhaps not the best description from me.........
What I was getting at is that when Tonky fitted my CAI, the bonnet initially wouldn't close as the CAI prevented it getting low enough for the hook on the bonnet to engage in the latch.
To give it a bit more room, Tonky in effect raised the point at which the hook engaged in the latch.
I can't immediately picture the latch in my minds eye, so I was struggling to communicate to Ben precisely where to find the screw which Tonky loosened in order to solve the problem.
One of you helpful souls will be able to do a better job of assisting a tax exile in distress, I'm sure!

I don't have a pic of the bonnet mechanism. If you look at the hook part of the bonnet catch, you'll see that there are three or four small bolts around it which allow the plate it's mounted on to slide up and down once they're slackened. It's then just a question of raising the plate a little at a time (re-tightening each time) until the bonnet closes.

Ta da! Tonky to the rescue - again!
Ben bought my CAI, Ced - so you're now officially its godfather, having assisted directly or indirectly in its fitting to two cars

The bit to play with is the plate that unfortunately, you're looking down on in the pic. I think it's 3 bolts securing it IIRC, about 10mm (ish)
EDIT>>>
Ben, it's the mechanism in the lower right of the pic! You can see the two top bolts. There used to be a 'How To' on this on the US Board if anyone can find it. Sing out if you have any probs.

Thanks, Tonky
(touching wood) seems pretty straightforward to me
I'll give it a go later on - shame its now p!ssing down with rain and due to stay that way all weekend. Ironically, the local water board announced a hose pipe ban yesterday - God must have a sense of humour!

Should be ok - only trouble for me is that my internet access at home is kaput, so if I do have any problems they will have to wait until Monday.
oh well - better warn A&E that I'm gonna work on my car again!
