I used to get less than 200 miles to the tank when I drove around town (and VTEC'd at every possible opportunity 
)
Now I'm a lot older and more sensible (yeah - right!), I get around 250 miles to the tank. Actually, I still enjoy a good VTEC, but do a lot less town driving and more A-road driving.
The fuel gauge is not the most accurate in the world - especially on the remaining few bars. I'm sure you'll be fine with 1 bar and 18 miles to go to the Shell garage. Have you got a jerry can....just in case?

I usually manage a refill of around 42 litres.
Mrs. U was driving it last week, we got 274mi to 41.65l
This week, with a bit of VTEC, I managed 260mi to the same.
The worst I've had was a fill of 46.xx litres - after lots of VTEC, B roads, and only around 250mi - and was on NO bars!! It dropped from two to 0 in about 15 miles!
How big is that petrol pool anyway? is 50 about right?
