Permanent 12v Feed
I want to wire in another cig-lighter socket that is permanently live.
What is the easiest way to tap into a permanent 12v feed for my new sat-nav system?

Hi, the easiest way is to get some wire and a crimp connector and connect directly to the battery via an inline fuse holder which can be had from any good car accessory shop. The fuse will need to be big enough to protect the wire and also feed your sat-nav. If you use 1.5mm wire you can use a 15A fuse. What is the power rating of your sat-nav ?. If you find the maximum power rating and divide by 12 it will give you the current and then you can select the appropriate wire and fuse.
Cheers, Jim.

Dave, one of the terminals under the dash (driver's side) is a permanent feed. I think the pics and info in the tech faq (and link(s) there) explain this quite well - I never had any problems adding a cigarette lighter 3 socket extension to mine.
The hardest part is actually the earth connection - there is one tucked up on the right of the drivers knee, which is difficult to get at - the best tool for this is a box spanner.
