keep the car, keep the car, keep the car, keep the car

"These Subarus and Mitsubishis, they flatter the egos of people who can't drive...."
This is so true. I have driven a Subaru STi PPP around the inner circuit at Rockingham, and it was fun to drive, much better than an M3 IMO. It does flatter, and that is a good thing. To be able to come out of a bend, squirt the gas and powerslide when you have never done it before, but easily control the car, is fantastic for a novice/amateur.

The power is awesome too. But ultimately the car is boring and very bland. Worst interior I have ever come across and I am driving a *cough* MG TF160 at the moment (worst car I have ever driven)

ps 6 more days to go

Well DuggE - you've certainly stirred a lot of interest here!!!! (Quite rightly too ...) .

On crash's point, I don't race, if someone is coming up behind me I will tend to let them past.

... on the other hand once they're past I will often follow .

Going up Loch Lomond side at the weekend, a Beemer saloon (3 series, loud 6 cylinder, Alpina wheels but no badges) in a hurry was squeezing past traffic (the road is 2 lanes but wide enough for 3 cars), so I let him by and then thought - can I keep up without being the bampot that he's being?

'Twas easy The S2000 is a brilliant overtaking machine! The 60 to 90 range of 3rd gear was just perfect. On more crowded / slower A roads, 2nd gear just demolishes lines of traffic between 40 and 65. (Need to practice that 2 - 3 change some tho' )

I have never been left thinking that the S2k lacks accessible poke. Frankly I think the car is safer (for me) than any other car I've owned - I just don't get into those 'oh-dear-god-if-you-let-me-live-through-this-overtake-I'll-never-be-stupid-again' moments anymore, there will always be a better opportunity soon.

Nailit - the steering's not dead, it's just speaking Japanese After a year I believe I know exactly what's going on under the tyres - as you say it's an 'honest' car.

Go on, keep it !

I've seen the picture on the website, but it does not give you any details about the track (Looks a bit Brands Hatch like, just a bit smaller). I'm waiting for an E-mail back from them to confirm a few details.

Cheers

I haven't driven it but the racers I know that have don't rate it much. They think it's a bit boring (not the oval, the infield circuit) and 'sterile'.

If you're still around, DuggE, I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts after seeing what we have all had to say.

Great idea, MarkB - an all S2000 track day at Donnington.
