Default Perfection?

Reading throug 'Car' and there's a small article on the S and the updates for '04 that set me thinking.

End of the article says "The S200 is huge fun in short bursts, an interesting alternative to the more predictable Z4 and Boxster but a less complete car. The '04 S2000 is better than ever - just don't mess with it"

My initial reaction was "less complete car" my arse thinking about it I was wondering if this is why we all seem to love it so much. After all every classic hero has his Achillies heel..............hence phrase Achillies heel for example. Superman had Kryptonite, Hamlet had the fact that he was mad as a hatter.

Maybe if the S was 'perfect' then it would be too sterile and lack that something that gets us all so passionate about it?

The S has character that other cars lack.

Lets face it, if it didn't rev like a banshee and was a doddle to drive in the wet, it would be a tad boring - what would we talk about on here for a start? hairstyles?

It's very definitely NOT an accountant's car

Wow, now there is a blanket statement!

I know there are quite a few accountants on the board who would beg to differ - some are even on their second S2000!

Do we actually have any real, genuine, employed hairdressers on the boards?

Yes, Mrs Blurter who drives a CTR, and occasionally the S . Oh no, does this make the S a hairdressers car

Most accountants I know (and I am one) either have no interest in cars, or if they do, they always buy "german" (which to me is boring - unless its a 911 which is bought to be driven, not because its a 911). Buying a 3 series/SLK/Boxster/TT just reinforces the stereotype IMHO.

The work's mostly boring enough without having to drive a dull car

Classic Euan - I'll forward that to an accountant I know who's a Beemer lover
