Ive just got back from the gym after submitting this post.. walked out to the car park and right next to me is a white toyota hi ace van! The driver was still sat in his van, I almost asked for a picture or comedy value.

We were parked at Oulton Park a month ago, 8ft on each side of the car, came back to find the back wing dinged and a 6" scratch, whole wing had to be painted. If someone had been within reach, anyone, I'd have ripped their throat oot. So sick of the careless, uncaring ****s in this world.

I'm finding this a pain in the arse. With the daily driver I'm more relaxed. It's functional, A to B nicely. A ding? - irritating because I'm the victim of some fuqkhead that's wasting oxygen by existing. But the S is a different kettle of kippers. Wife tired of my paranoia as I hunt round car parks looking for a safe spot. Have even driven to places and refused to stop because of the risk to the bodywork.
In all my years I have never dinged another car. Even parked next to a rustbucket I'll perform contortions to ensure I don't. And I ask myself the question that all of you must - why can't more people be like me?
I heard a story, probably apochryphal, of a guy that returned to his dented car to find a note on the windscreen. "I'm writing this note because the people that witnessed my collision will think that I'm leaving my details and not bother me". Another candidate for summary slow execution.

Some people just dont care. I used to go out with a girl who routinely opened her door and bashed it into the car in the next space. She didnt think anything of it. I used to go nuts, needless to say we werent together long.

R5 GT Turbo:
doors dinged several times but were made of French tinfoil
XR2i 16v: Door shopping trolleyed within 1st week and after 3 months
106 GTI: same, in 1st month
Civic Type-R: rear bumper resprayed after anonymous car park scrape
S2000: keyed on rear wing
I either parallel park in Supermarkets or happily walk a bit from the car park outskirts. They won't pay for damage due to their spaces being stupidly small so I feel no shame in taking up 'two' spaces. My argument was accepted on the occasion I was challenged.

The only way to avoid this is to avoid car parks altogether. Sad but true.
I just don't take mine onto supermarket car parks anymore unless they have an enormous car park with a stack of empty spaces.
