Default Paint Peeling On Front Bumper

Hi all,

I got my S2000 from a honda dealer back in november 2007. They resprayed the bumper as the paint was peeling prior to me buying the car.

Fast forward to today and its all peeling again..... what comeback if any do I have here? Any idea what guarentee honda have on paintwork like this?

They did not do the job properly in the first place, don't think you will have any guarantee but go back to them and ask them politely to do it right this time. If you don't get the reaction you want then I would complain to honda CCing the dealer in on your letter. Shoddy work will be an embarrassment and cannot be backed up by it being normal wear and tear.

you paid a lot for that car from memory so it was spotless - and they sorted it , sounds like they have just oversprayed and not prepped the paint - go in and have a chat wtih the manager, dont accept no for an answer all work should guaranteed for a year - but more than anything it should not just ' drop off' oh and dont let them fob you off wtih ' you have used a pressure washer ' either... if you have to go to Honda CC then make sure you stress taht you use a main dealer to avoid cowboy fixes like this !!!

Wink

A bit O/T but at Japfest I got chatting to a very experienced manual refinisher (sprayer) who works for Honda.

He stated that the paint on the S2000 is unique in that it costs three times that of all other models.
Its much thicker apparently...more coats.

So there you go, just when you thought you knew it all!

Think he's getting mixed with the nsx. The paint thickness on the s2k is nearly always 98 microns. This is the norm for many jap cars. There is nothing special about the average s2k paint.
