Default Paint colour matching on Silverstone metalic?

Hi,
Has anyone had any repair work done on a siverstone metalic and did they have trouble exactly matching the paint to the original?

I got my car back on Saturday after the having a new front bumper, it was raining hard so I said I would inspect it when I get home. I havent signed to say ive accepted yet.
When I got home I washed and dried the car, thats when I noticed the colour difference.
The colour match between the body and the new bumper is noticably different. In the shade the bumper seems lighter than the body. In the light the bumper seems darker than the body.
If you look really closer the original paint seems to have more metalic flecs in it??
Other than the colour, the quality of the actual painted bumper is quite amazing, probably better than than he original.
Should I complain and make them do it again? Or am I being unreasonable?

Thank in advance
Paul

I had some work done on the rear quarter of mine and the paint match was absolutely perfect. They did have to blend down the side of the car, but there are no signs that it has been touched. Very impressed!

The car was 1 week old, which might have made their life easier

Mine seems to be an OK match - I'm no paint expert mind!

Athough they only replaced the bonnet and n/s wing, they repainted the o/s wing and both doors to blend it in. Always worth going back to complain and starting low key (you never know they might agree with you!) - you can always up the rant index later

I would suggest that you were (are) entitled to have a perfect match - prseumably that is what you wanted and expected.

If thay haven't complied then it is up to them to do it again. There is no excuse for not matching as there are specialist firms who can match perfectly ANY colour! My first wife (oops) - not Budgie's Mum - worked in such an establishment as a paint matcher.

You will often find Insurance assessors that have little machines that give a specific reading for each colour and can tell if a match is good or bad!

Actually, the chap I usually parks next to has a newish Honda Jizz and had an "unfortunate incident" on the M62 which resulted in him needing a new front bumper on his 1 month old car. It was done at the same place as mine (James Alpe in Clitheroe) but the quality of the paint match is pretty poor. In fact, I don't think I'd have accepted it. They simply sprayed the dumper with the "right" colour and slapped it on the car.

James Alpe did tell me that owing to the nature of my car (i.e. expensive and brand new) they had squandered lots of insurance money making sure that it was good as new. Perhaps they wouldn't try as hard for a little Jizz...?

They also told me that metallics (especially silver) are very hard to match on a flat panel (i.e. a complete side) and quite often require the whole side to be resparyed to ensure a perfect match. This is why my minor rear quarter damage ended up having a respray right down to the front wing. Eeek! That said, it really is good as new and after polishing it several times, I am still unable to find a single flaw in the repair

When I picked the car up, it was dark, but we took it into the worshop and had a good look round. James told me to take the car away and if I found anything at all, I could bring it back and they would rectify it. I did find a minor problem with the carpet and they sorted it there and then. That's the sort of service you should be getting...

Thanks for the reposnses,
I actually phoned them this morning and said I wasnt happy with the colour match and they were fine about it and said they would fix it
They still need to fit the new headlamp (on back order) as the old one was very slightly scuffed, i let them sort it out then.

I waited 3 1/2 months for the minibius driver to admit liability, I was eating my lunch in a little chef as I watch them reverse onto it. It put me right off my food

btw they are letting me keep the old headlamp as a spare which is a bonus.
