Sorry Andy, Id think you'd rather know now than later on.

Punchdrunk - When your bush cracks and fails, because its been twisted, and your upside down in a field, would it matter to you?

[QUOTE=punchdrunk,Feb 4 2010, 03:34 PM] If the bushes are seized but the geo is within range, what does it matter

Fair nuff J_D. I know there are a lot of cowboys out there.

But how would someone like me who can just about change a spark plug, have any idea that was the case.? I'm hoping TGM are OK, they seem to have a lot of good press on this forum. And I would think that if they were actually seized they'd tell me as they'd want me to spend the £££ with them to get them unseized.?

Guess we all have to put our faith in the experts sometimes.

Most of the advice I’ve got on the subject led me to the conclusion that I’d get all my bots removed, greased and replaced.
The hassle of having a stuck bolt seems to outweigh the cost of getting them greased.

Prevention is better than cure.

Andy,

If it's seized within range, it may mean that the camber is "stuck" at, say 1 1/2 degrees negative, which means it's in range. What TGM can then do, is match the other wheel to that figure, meaning all is fine.

If you wanted, say, 2 degrees each side, then they wouldn't be able to do that for you. Inother words, you're restricted to whatever setting the seized bolt gives you.

However, if the bolt was seized with, say, a positive camber setting, which would be well outside parameters, then it would require removal.

Hope that's clear.

All the settings are interlinked I think (although I'm walking on thin ice here).

If you sit in the car, the camber will change as the suspension is compressed, so I suppose if you alter the camber on one side, it affects the other slightly with the change in height.

Someone more knowledgable will be along shortly, I'm sure.

The bush twists all the time in use, all the suspension movement is through the bush twisting, the centre tube stays still, so if its stuck in the correct position no problem

if you meant the mechanics had twisted it and damaged it then ignore me

Yep, thats exactly what they have done. Both now set to -1.50.

oddly enough the rhs was at -1.40 to start with.

lhs was at -1.80 to start with but when they moved it to -1.50 then the rhs went to -1.50 too.
Does that sound right ? Tom did explain how it would do that but it all got a bit scientific for me !
Did you get a before and after print out? Are you prepared to scan a copy and upload it?

Here's mine;
