A 'friend' of mine changed from 6th to 2nd today by mistake, fortunately put the clutch in before the revs went over 9k...Back end even squirmed on the wet motorway as the wheels locked up.

What a silly sausage! *ahem*
I assume your 'friend' meant to go from 6th to 4th? - I'm sure I read on here that you should go down and up through all the gears, as it causes less stress to the synchro bits in the gearbox, so that's what I* try to do

* well, I mean someone I knew once

Yes that's what was intended, going down the box is ok (AFAIK) if you double de-clutch (rev-match), which is what I always do (and so does my friend ). I never skip gears going up the box though.

I had a quiet word with him, he won't do it again.

I was gunning it in 4th and went for third just Saturday past, albeit I got the clutch down in about a second, since then I have noticed that my lights don't flash when I lock the doors??????? and yesterday after filling up with optimax my engine check light has come on.... a good 24 hours after the first incident!!!

confused as the car drives fine no problems at all , so I was wondering weather the check light comes on if you have a leccy fault as well as engine probs?

anyway it goes in on wednesday
