Glad you made it through that safely.
I left to go through to livingston and then onto dunfermline at around 10.30 this morning. Spent a few hours at different clients.
Tried to leave around 4 and after stupidly trying to go Hermingston Gate then onto A71, coming from the Forth Bridge, and after seeing sense i went onto the M8 at Livingston and took my punishment. after a stop at the services i got home around 8ish.
Good thing was my boss lent me his Cayenne Turbo for the day as he knows what the S is like in the snow . Beast of a machine.
Even that was sliding around at some bits. Road home was terrible. The ice was so thick on the road.
Fair play to you cos there would be no way i'd drive the S on that.

Sounds like you need some confidence building Boab. When are you going to join us for a run? You need to earn your jock badge.
Reminds me of the great snow storm of 86. Took me 6 hours to get from Paisley to EK.
4 hours to get to Strathclyde Park, only to find the polis had closed the bypass.
Undaunted by this, I set off in my trusty Audi 80 on the old Stoneymeadow road, only to discover a feckin great artic jack-knifed halfway up!
Retraced my route and joined the road by going up the High Blantyre off-ramp and crossing the central reservation.
Picked up a poor bugger walking home (18 inches of snow, white-out blizzard and -5C FFS!). Took him home to Greenhills then managed to get back to my own house.
I actually got stuck halfway up my own street.
When I looked for my car in the morning it was under 3 feet of snow!
We were cut off for 3 days.
Now thats what I call snow.

Nothing to do with confidence, more common sense .
Fair play to those who want to take the car in the snow, but i'd rather not. I took mine to the office this morning. I do and have driven in the snow, but i know my limits.
Anyway why risk it when i was offered the use of a Cayenne. Not everybodys weapon of choice, but at least you can get a decent stretch out in those long ass waits in traffic

I'm starting to lose my fear of the S2000. I have a healthy respect but I'm not afriad to let it go sideways a bit. I felt the snow was fine as long as I was very careful - which I was. The real problem I feel would be if I got stuck in the city having to take on steep slopes in either direction. I doubt the s2000 could cope with that.

Actually yes, gaddafi
I took the car through to a 21st party at the Glasshouse in Glasgow which is like a botanical garden in the middle of a massive park. We thought we could gain access by car but there was no parking so had to make a very tight turn on a narrow bit of road. I noted that my front wheels would have to run wide onto the grass and proceeded with caution but (given it was dark) I didn't see a muckle big hole that the front passenger wheel dropped into. There was an almighty crack/snap from the front of the car but I can't see any damage yet. It's daylight now but I'm scared to go and have a look. I think/hope its something plastic under the car and out of sight.
