Whilst the auction doesn't breach the strict letter of ebay's rules, it drives a coach and horses right through the spirit of them.

IMHO it's little better than the scammers who gull people into bidding on auctions which appear to be for expensive phones and electronics at knockdown prices, only for the small print to say that they're actually selling you a URL.

I know that the rule is caveat emptor, and on ebay more than anywhere else, but this does leave a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.

Oh, and it's interesting that Mike is using a recently-created bidding alias. I'm interested - is that because you've never used ebay before? Or because you envisage getting negative feedback when the truth comes to light and you don't want it recording on your main bidding alias.......?

Just set up a new account called "This is last years card" and put a max bid of 100k in

I agree this is misleading - you dont specify that the card is last years, and it is a dodgy black n white photo. Those people bidding must REALLY be mugs

Plus it is exactly the sort of activity which ruins ebay, the less of that activity there is around the better.

If you had a conscience Mike, you'd remove the auction.

Yeah there are dumb idiots-dumb idiots usually don't earn much money (cos they are dumb). Nice to see you making poor people poorer

Dumb people are also misinformed people-not nescessarily poor or stupid-there is always going to be something you don't know 100% about-so when you retire and your pension is worth a pittance, or someone rips off your granny when fixing her roof you will know how it feels

I know Optimax has just breached the psychological 80p per litre barrier in most parts of the country, but there must be a better way to make money than this dubious scheme
