Default opening the boot

Is there or should there be a button on the remote to open the boot alone?

I have 3 remotes, 2 of which dont actually do anything and 1 of which seems to just open the car and close it.. but no boot release. I believe the remote I have is a thatcham alarm one hence it isnt a specific honda one but I'm just a little confused as to what the car should actually have to open it with.

Sorry for asking yet MORE questions.

Mine has a big lock button, then 2 smaller buttons one unlocks the complete car and the other opens the boot but will keep the alarm on/car locked (well if its already locked!).

I think there are 2 types of remote fob. I have the Honda UK 2 button fob which does not open the boot, only unlocks everything. sounds like you have the same.

The 2 button opens the boot as well - just wait for the lights to go out and hit the button again.

7/10 it works....

Aye, there are two types of fob. Have a read of the Tech FAQ and it describes them both, but in short only the post 04 models have dedicated boot opening buttons.

On models prior to this you have to wait for the lights to go out (after opening), press the open button again and the boot will pop open. This will work until you are carrying something heavy with no free hands.

Here are my fobs, for my '99.

The one on the left is the Cat 1 alarm. This one does not open the boot. The one on the right locks/unlocks the doors. The top left button is for the boot (won't work with keys in ignition of course).

Martin

The fob on the left will open the boot. If you press the 'unlocking' button twice in quick succession the boot will pop open about 7/10ths of the time - with a little practice. Of course it definitely won't work when you really need it to. It won't work in the supermarket car park, the times you have your hands full with bags or boxes, if it is rainning or all the other really useful times.

On a seperate note I followed you all the way from cumberland basin all the way to WSM junction 21- but I wasn't in the S

Oh no it won't!

Just been trying and it most definately won't, perhaps it's broken.

Yesterday!

oh, MY 00 definitely did except for the exclusions above

It must be because it is either broken or you really, really, really want it to work and thus it is never going to! Either that or its raining, you have your hands full, or you are parked in a supermarket car park!
