Question OMG - Paint Ruined?

Right, not a great weekend really..... and sorry if this rant goes on!!

Went shopping in Tesco at about 8am Sat morning, only to return to my car to find it covered with eggs Had already taken precaution of parking as far away as possible & out of reach of every possible door ding!

Apparently 2 youths dressed as punks took a dislike to my hard earned car while I was shopping and decided my shiny paint needed a few over-easies adding to it. Well given their Burghundy Ka, what were they to know about style?!

2 fantastic trolley collectors managed to witness the event & took down their registration plate incase I wanted to call the police. Initially I dismissed this as a bit of high spirited fun; no harm done etc.

Getting home, removing omelette, fried eggs & gently washing the car, I noticed 6 points where the eggs had been thrown at the car - I presume it must have been at a fair velocity, as it has scratched / chipped the paint: . Not dure what egg shells are made of but it's hard stuff!

Needless to say, high spirited fun no longer, so police phoned etc. This is currently being progressed but not likely to get any satisfaction out of them getting a slapped wrist each.

So, the problem remains.......

I have small chips / scratches in my paint from eggs. I can feel them with my finger nail but believe they have not fully gone through to undercoat (however, I am certianly no paint expert!). I have spent several hours with X-scratch & various waxes, but they are still fully visible.

Hoping these photos link - if so, can anyone help & advise if this can be fixed easily by a pro vs a whole re-spray?? Not all 'hits' are photographed - too much reflection to get decent images.

Places hit are: Bonnet x 2, Drivers side front wing, Drivers side door, Drivers side rear wing, Rear bumber pass side. All pretty similar in depth etc.

Plus 1 final pic to show I do look after my car!

Having only had the car since jan & this being my 2nd proper month of driving it, I am extremely upset. If anyone has advice / views on the paint - esp Tango Man as he seems to be a paint god!

Final rant: just cant believe people would do this totally unprovoked. If I catch em, I'd hang them up by their b@lls.

Thanks folks,

Matt

Thanks mate: some folk just cant appreciate others care a lot about their things - spend a long time saving up for stuff & dont enjoy a low life coming along and taking pleasure in someone elses misery.

You have got their registration, claim off of their insurance.

Have you got legal cover with your insurance?

Funbox; a friends Dad is a solicitor so am chatting to him tmrw morning.

Not sure what will become of it, but I'll get the address of the owner from the DVLA & get a solicitor letter over to them as a warning at the very least - not sure if anyone knows where I stand on that???

Steven, have got legal cover - but not sure if I can claim through car insurance - afterall, they didnt actually 'use' the car to do the damage, it was more of a getaway vehicle!

Will speak to the insurers tmrw & see what they say....hello increased premium eh!!

You should be able to use your legal cover to persue them through the courts to recover the cost of repair.

Thanks Steven - will call tmrw & see what happens.

Will post my findings back.

In an ideal world I would like this to be the most expensive egg issue for these 2 since Edwina C decided to comment on them!

Good idea. Assuming they were insured.

Sorry to hear about this and good luck getting it sorted.

Don't let the police off the hook either. Make them follow this up.
