Default oil temps

What is considered hot?

After a lap or 2 of the ring I was hitting 108c...is that high?!

IMO that's not particularly high, I've seen higher on the road.

From memory anything below 110C isn't going to have any seriously detrimental effects on life of the oil
Anything above 125C and it'll degrade pretty rapidly

I used to see 108C on my supercharged car with no issues.
If you are worried just change the oil more frequently.

that doesn't seem so high for a track temp,

assume you are measuring at the sump ?

Seems fine to me

After a blast in my old 16v golf the oil temp gauge would regularly read 110 +

Thanks all! The temp is measured on the sandwich plate at the oil filter. Pil changes are not an issue-just had one done and the are done regularly!
