Thanks for all the replys, car now booked in for next wednesday At Norton in Letchworth.

I'll keep it out of V-tec untill then, I'm gutted as I've just removed the Air filter lid and I love the noise.

As its a JDM I had the UK dash fitted, I need to get the milage changed as it reads incorrect. Any one know where I can get this done? Norton cant do this for me.

Thanks.

Are you a member of the AA? If so, get them to come round (tell them your oil light is on) and check the oil level. As AE says I wouldn't drive it at all if there's a chance that your engine has no oil.

From the above posts it sounds serious, I would ask the AA to flatbed it to a dealer.

Just a thought but if you've had the dash replaced it could just be fault wiring on the light, but you don't really want to take the chance.

if the oil light is coming on under heavy braking, it is unlikely to be a pressure problem, more likely that the oil level is low and when the oil surges under braking the level drops too low. this is bad for the engine! if you are sure that the oil is up to the top mark on the dipstick then take the car to the dealer.

Good thinking Neil,

I am a member, but I did have a look last night as I've been keeping a very close eye on the oil and I got the reading I wanted, I had a mate check it as well.

The oil light has only flickered for a second when I am braking heavily. Every time Its happened I've topped it up with more oil, and it has not happened for several 100 miles. Not been on constant at any time so I'm hoping I've caught the problem early.

I've got all my fingers, toes and even eyes crossed hoping its going to be ok. I've been jinxed with the S2000. I should of got a fiesta, saved the money and brought a poster of the s2000 and a PS2/Xbox so I can race it safely!

Problem is once the bearings start to pick up the surface finish gets damaged and then it's just a matter of time until they go

Actually if anyones interested I've some photo's of an engine that the owner allowed the oil level to get too low in and wiped itself out. Can't get decent ones to post on the site but I'll E-mail them if anyone PM's me

Why don't people understand the difference between low oil level and low oil pressure? it isn't the same thing guys/gals. Trust me.
