Default Oil leak - advice please

Hi, first off I'm new to the S2Ki scene so hi everybory.

I'm thinking about buying my first S2000, and have seen one today that seems to fit the bill.

There is a potential problem with the engine, see pics - oil appears to have leaked from somewhere, I'm not sure where. It's all around the bottom edge of the rocker cover, mostly on the left hand side (looking from the front of the car) of the engine. I saw no signs of leaking whilst checking it over or after a test drive and the car drove perfectly.

Should I be put off buying the car? It's a 2001 model with 86,000 on the clock, FSH (save one missing service in 2004). Everything else about the car checks out and it drives well.

Thanks forum!

Difficult to tell, but I wouldn't be buying a car with that many oil marks on it.

Plenty to choose from out there!

Looks like it's got new cam cover washers so it's probably been off recently, could just be a shody refit or not torqued down enough
a gasket set costs £37 and a recon cover in powder coat is £50, I can't see why this could be a big problem, how's the rest ofthe car? If it's all a bit shaby walk away, if this is the only bit and the price is good then it's worth keeping on the list

No big deal, just wants a new rocket cover gasket.
But what you really need to know is if the spark plug tubes are now full of oil too

really not the end of the world looks like the rocker cover gasket - have you asked how much it loooses ? an owner with an oil leak should know about it, rocker cover gasket is not expensive at all and takes the best part of 30 seconds to whip out the plugs and see if they have oil on
