Default Oil flush ?

My TCT is ticking and driving me mad. I'm going to buy a Billman replacement but until it arrives, I'm going to change the oil - 10W40 fully sync, Millers or Valvoline.

I'm new to S2k coming from a Porsche 944 and Mk1 MX5 and I'm conscious that oil quality, level and general care on the S2 seem to be a step up from my previous cars.

My question is - should I do an engine flush before new oil and OEM filter? If so any recommendations?

Thanks

Just change the oil and make sure you don't go low on it. That's all you have to worry about.

Spoon do not recommended using oil flush ever. Better to do frequent oil changes and let the normal oil properties do the cleaning gently. Using oil flush can dislodge dirt particles large enough to block oil galleries and embed in bearings.

Nope, vey bad stuff to put in a modern engine, if it were to do it's job and reveal loads of bronze swarf then your engine is knackered anyway.

Just get your engine warmed up, and let the oil drain as long as possible.

Curious why all you "UK Guys" use 10w-40? The spec is 10w-30 (preferred) or 5w-40 (temperatures lower than -20°C). As I said, just curious.

No one here should be using 10w40. 5w40 fully synthetic is the recommended oil spec.

10W40 or 5W40, it's to help preserve your TCT and it runs sweet. 10W30 doesn't give the same insurance. I used Castrol edge 10W40 till it became unavailable then I switched to 5W40.

Isn't 10w40 a thicker oil? From my limited reading, one would only use a thicker oil in a high-mileage engine due to seals being past their best.
