Most motorist shops will stock some sort of Oil filter remover, which you can also use to tighten up the new filter. Just be careful not to overdo it. The walls of the filter are not very thick and its too easy to distort the thing. Personally, I do it up hand tight and then use the other halfs Marigolds to give it a final tweak. Never had one come loose on me yet. Just dont wander about the area wearing the marigolds (street cred etc) and have a good excuse ready for when she queries the black marks that have appeared on her gloves.

If you're that concerned, go for the Marigolds, or use a leather belt.

Here we go again.....

On the F20c hand tight is not enough. There are very specific instructions on the OEM filter itself as how much to tighten the filter.....and its more than hand tight.

I can't remember the instructions off hand, but i'm sure someone else will post them soon.

Only tightening the filter hand tight is what you used to do with old fashioned engines that didn't have the vibrations caused by 9000rpm or the associated oil pressure.

I've ALWAYS tightened my filters up by hand and have never had a leak.

If the old one doesn't come off by hand then I stick a screwdriver through it...simple...no need for these gimicky tools.
Have you done this on your S yet ?

The S2000 is different, many a strapping lad on here has done his by hand and a lot of them have come off.

All's I'd say to anybody doing their own is to use a tool and make sure it is torqued up correctly.

Have you tried phoning a couple of other dealers to see if they will sell you one ?

IIRC they used to come with the filters when you bought them from Honda.

Oh and don't appologise.
